Description
A delicious and easy-to-make tuna steak dish served with a rich creamy garlic sauce and a fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 cups mixed salad greens (arugula, spinach, or baby kale)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ cucumber, sliced
- ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
- Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or chives)
Instructions
- Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting for your preferred doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Then add Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- In a bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion. Toss with your favorite dressing or simply a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar.
- Slice the tuna steaks against the grain. Arrange on plates beside the salad. Drizzle creamy garlic sauce over the tuna steaks.
- Garnish with fresh herbs on top for a colorful finish. Serve immediately while everything is hot.
Notes
Resting the tuna steaks after cooking helps to keep them juicy. Mix and match dressings for the salad to suit your taste.
