Description

Sear fresh tuna steaks and drizzle with a creamy garlic sauce, paired with a vibrant mixed salad for a nutritious and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens (arugula, spinach, or baby kale)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or chives)

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting for your preferred doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Add Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. In a bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion. Toss with your favorite dressing or simply a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar.
  6. Slice the tuna steaks against the grain. Arrange on plates beside the salad. Drizzle creamy garlic sauce over the tuna steaks.
  7. Sprinkle fresh herbs on top for a colorful finish. Serve immediately while everything is hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the tuna in olive oil, lemon juice, and herbs before cooking. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
