Ingredients
- 2 fresh tuna steaks
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat, adding olive oil if necessary.
- Pat the tuna steaks dry and season with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Place the tuna steaks in the hot pan, searing for 1–2 minutes per side for rare, adjusting the time for desired doneness.
- Remove the steaks from heat and let them rest before slicing against the grain.
- Prepare the avocado salsa by combining diced avocado, red onion, cherry tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeño in a bowl.
- Serve the sliced tuna steaks topped with avocado salsa and lime wedges.
