Description

Deliciously crispy and golden Southern fried shrimp that brings back comforting childhood memories and perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges
  • Condiments: cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, ranch dressing, honey mustard, or others as desired

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or skillet until it reaches 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine shrimp with milk, dried oregano, paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, oregano, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Remove shrimp from the milk mixture, letting excess drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  5. Carefully place shrimp in hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes, turning until golden brown.
  6. Remove shrimp and drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet.
  7. Serve hot with lemon wedges and chosen dipping sauces.

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature stays consistent for optimal crispiness. Fry in batches if necessary and consider double-dredging for extra crunch.
