Description

A delightful recipe for seared tuna steaks topped with rich garlic herb butter, perfect for busy weeknights or elegant dinner parties.

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (6-8 ounces each), about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, rosemary, or a mix)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  4. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  5. Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet, and top each steak with a tablespoon of the garlic herb butter. Let the butter melt slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure tuna is fresh and use a hot skillet for searing to avoid dryness. Monitor cooking time closely.
