Ingredients
- 2 tuna steaks (6-8 ounces each), about 1 inch thick
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, rosemary, or a mix)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs, and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
- Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet, and top each steak with a tablespoon of the garlic herb butter. Let the butter melt slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure tuna is fresh and use a hot skillet for searing to avoid dryness. Monitor cooking time closely.
