A crunchy and flavorful fried squid dish seasoned with salt and pepper, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 500 g squid
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- If using frozen squid, defrost overnight in the fridge. Drain and pat dry.
- Cut whole squid into thick rings using a sharp knife.
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and black pepper.
- Dredge squid pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat.
- Test oil temperature, then add squid in batches, frying until golden brown (1-2 minutes).
- Remove squid and drain on paper towels.
- Serve with garlic mayo and lemon wedges.
Notes
Double dredging the squid can create an even thicker, crunchier crust.
