Description

A crunchy and flavorful fried squid dish seasoned with salt and pepper, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 500 g squid
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. If using frozen squid, defrost overnight in the fridge. Drain and pat dry.
  2. Cut whole squid into thick rings using a sharp knife.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Dredge squid pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat.
  6. Test oil temperature, then add squid in batches, frying until golden brown (1-2 minutes).
  7. Remove squid and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve with garlic mayo and lemon wedges.

Notes

Double dredging the squid can create an even thicker, crunchier crust.
