Ingredients
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons (22.5 ml) rice vinegar
- 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) Chili Garlic Paste or Sambal Oelek or other spicy paste
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) toasted sesame oil
- 1 pound (450 g) beef, cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) honey
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
- 1 – 2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) Aleppo pepper (or any spicy chili powder), more to taste
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cornstarch
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, rice vinegar, spicy paste, sugar, and toasted sesame oil. Set this mixture aside.
- Heat the air fryer to 375ºF.
- Pat the beef dry thoroughly. Place the beef pieces into a medium bowl and mix them with 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil, cornstarch, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, and Aleppo pepper. Ensure every piece is evenly coated with the marinade. Arrange the beef in a single layer in the air fryer and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of approximately 130ºF, taking about 4 to 6 minutes. No turning is necessary.
- Distribute the cooked rice into 4 separate bowls, place the beef on top, and add your choice of vegetables and garnishes. Pour some of the spicy mayo over the top and serve with lime wedges.
Notes
- For a healthier option, consider using light mayonnaise or Greek yogurt as a substitute in the spicy mayo sauce.
- Adjust the amount of spicy paste or chili powder to your taste preference for a spicier dish.
- For a thicker sauce, mix a bit more cornstarch with water and add it to the spicy mayo mixture before serving.
