Description
Discover how to make restaurant-style sweet teriyaki sesame air fryer wings at home with this easy recipe. Crispy, flavorful, and perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Chicken wings (450 g)
- ¼ cup Teriyaki sauce (60 ml)
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml). Pepper
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml). Salt
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml). Sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil for brushing
Instructions
- If your chicken wings are frozen, it’s best to defrost them before starting. However, if time is tight, you can directly place them in the air fryer to both thaw and cook them to a crispy finish.
- Make sure to pat the wings dry thoroughly. While I usually separate them into wingettes and drumettes, this time I opted to leave them whole and was pleased with the outcome.
- Season the wings by sprinkling salt and pepper over them, preparing them for the air fryer. If using cornstarch, incorporate it now by tossing the wings in it. Additionally, brush them with vegetable oil prior to placing them in the air fryer basket.
- Set your air fryer to preheat at 200°C or 390°F for approximately 5 minutes. Arrange the wings in a single layer within the air fryer. My XL model can accommodate 1 lb. or 450 g of wings in one batch. Cook them at 200°C or 390°F for about 16 to 20 minutes, depending on the size of the wings.
- My cooking took 16 minutes, which included an extra 2 minutes after applying the teriyaki sauce. If your air fryer wasn’t preheated, you might need more than 16 minutes. Cooking times can vary based on the air fryer model.
- Halfway through cooking, turn the wings for even browning and to ensure the fat renders, leading to a crispy skin.
- While the wings cook, pour the teriyaki sauce into a bowl. The consistency of mine was similar to a glaze. Once the wings are cooked, place them in the bowl and coat them evenly with the sauce. Return them to the air fryer for a couple of minutes at 200°C or 390°F to allow the glaze to adhere well.
- Serve the wings immediately, garnished with toasted sesame seeds. Your delicious air fryer teriyaki wings are ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Ensure the wings are thoroughly dried before seasoning and air frying for a crispy texture.
- Simmer the teriyaki sauce on the stovetop for a thicker consistency before tossing with cooked wings.
- Customize the flavor of your teriyaki wings by experimenting with seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, or chili flakes.
