Description

Transform humble cod into an elegant entrée with this simple yet scrumptious recipe that impresses with flavor and simplicity.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless cod filets (5-8 oz)
  • 4 cups water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the water, sugar, and salt. Add to a large skillet.
  3. Place fish filets in the skillet and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Boil for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the cod fillet.
  5. Remove fish from water and place on lined pan.
  6. Brush with melted butter and season with paprika.
  7. Broil for about 7 minutes on low until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Brush with more butter and juice from 1/2 lemon and serve.

Notes

For optimal texture, avoid overcooking the cod; it should flake easily and remain moist. Experiment with additional seasonings like garlic powder or fresh herbs.
