Description

Discover the secret to perfectly crispy Brown Sugar BBQ Air Fryer Wings! Learn how to make this delicious and easy recipe for a mouthwatering meal.

Ingredients

  • – 2 lb (900g to 1kg) chicken wings (wingettes and drumettes)
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) pepper
  • – 1 cup tomato sauce (240 ml)
  • – 1 tablespoon date syrup (about 15 ml)
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) brown sugar
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
  • – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) chili powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wings by drying them thoroughly with paper towels, which is essential for achieving crispiness.
  2. Coat the wings by mixing them with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the wings initially by placing them in the air fryer at 390°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, making sure to shake them halfway. Check at the 15-minute mark as air fryers can differ.
  4. Create the sauce by blending all sauce ingredients in a saucepan on medium heat. Let it simmer for 5–8 minutes, stirring now and then until it thickens and becomes glossy. Adjust the taste if needed.
  5. Combine the wings with the sauce until they are well-coated. Place them back in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize.

Notes

  • – For a spicier flavor, enhance the wing seasoning mixture with 1/4 teaspoon of chili powder before cooking.
  • – Customize the sauce’s sweetness by adjusting the amount of brown sugar and date syrup to suit your taste.
  • – Ensure even crispiness by shaking the wings halfway through cooking in the air fryer; stir the simmering sauce occasionally to prevent burning.
