Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 pound (454 g) beef, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) slices
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground thyme
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and lightly crushed
Instructions
- Activate a multi-functional pressure cooker by choosing the Sauté mode. Heat the vegetable oil in the pot. Arrange the beef slices in a single layer and cook in the oil until they turn golden, approximately 5 minutes. Turn them over and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Take out the beef and set it aside.
- Insert the trivet into the pot. Add the chicken broth, then sprinkle in the ground thyme, salt, and black pepper. Introduce the garlic and let it cook for 1 minute. Place the beef slices on the trivet; close and secure the lid. Opt for high pressure following the manufacturer’s guidelines; set the timer for 1 minute.
- Carefully release the pressure using the quick-release technique as per the manufacturer’s instructions, which takes about 5 minutes. Unlock and lift the lid. Remove the beef from the pot.
- Select the Sauté mode again and cook the chicken broth and oil mixture until it reduces slightly, about 2 minutes. Return the beef slices to the pot in a single layer. Continue cooking until they are golden, around 3 minutes on each side.
Notes
- Consider enhancing the flavor by marinating the beef slices in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.
- Add a touch of heat by sprinkling red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper on the beef slices before cooking.
- Customize the dish by experimenting with herbs and spices like rosemary, paprika, or cumin for a unique flavor profile.
