Description

A fun and simple way to make sushi at home using an ice cube tray for bite-sized pieces.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice (raw)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp sushi rice vinegar
  • Sushi toppings of your choice (like cucumbers, avocado, or fish)
  • 1 nori seaweed sheet
  • Soy sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of sushi rice under cold water 3-4 times until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine rice with 1 cup of cold water in a rice cooker and cook according to the rice cooker instructions. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes after cooking.
  3. Transfer rice to a bowl and mix in 3 tablespoons of sushi rice vinegar. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  4. Line an ice cube tray with plastic wrap. Place toppings at the bottom of each compartment with the prettier side facing down.
  5. Press sushi rice on top of the toppings in the compartments.
  6. Cut nori into squares and place one on top of each compartment.
  7. Press a sushi serving plate upside down onto the tray and flip it quickly to mold the sushi.
  8. Remove the ice cube tray and plastic wrap, and serve the sushi with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

Experiment with different toppings and flavors. Ensure that the rice is cooled slightly before handling.
