Description

Crispy fried shrimp drizzled with sweet and spicy hot honey, perfect for gatherings or casual meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or a dairy-free option)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup hot honey (homemade or store-bought)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture after removing them from buttermilk.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pan to around 350°F.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Drizzle hot honey over the fried shrimp and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

To maintain shrimp crispiness, monitor oil temperature carefully and consider marinating for up to two hours for enhanced tenderness.
