Description

Crispy hot honey fried shrimp with a perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and crunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix the buttermilk with the shrimp and set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper with flour.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in the seasoned flour, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Drain on a paper towel-lined sheet.
  5. For the hot honey glaze, heat honey, hot sauce, butter, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan over low heat.
  6. Drizzle the glaze over the fried shrimp or serve on the side.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are dry before dredging for crispy coating. Adjust hot sauce in glaze for heat preference.
