Description

A delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors, hot honey fried shrimp provides a satisfying crunch and an irresistible glaze perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry.
  2. Prepare three shallow pans: one with flour and seasonings, one with buttermilk, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  4. Dip the flour-coated shrimp in buttermilk, letting excess drip off.
  5. Coat each shrimp in panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Add shrimp to hot oil without overcrowding; fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  8. Transfer shrimp to paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  9. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat; stir in honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar.
  10. Drizzle the hot honey glaze over shrimp or serve on the side.

Notes

For extra heat, add cayenne or chili powder to the flour mixture.
