Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup honey
- 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry.
- Prepare three shallow pans: one with flour and seasonings, one with buttermilk, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the flour-coated shrimp in buttermilk, letting excess drip off.
- Coat each shrimp in panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add shrimp to hot oil without overcrowding; fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Transfer shrimp to paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat; stir in honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar.
- Drizzle the hot honey glaze over shrimp or serve on the side.
Notes
For extra heat, add cayenne or chili powder to the flour mixture.
