Description
A quick and simple recipe for honey garlic glazed tilapia that combines sweetness and umami in a delicious fish dish.
Ingredients
- 4 (6-ounce) fresh or thawed frozen tilapia fillets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons water
- Optional garnishes: Freshly chopped parsley, toasted sesame seeds, or thinly sliced green onions
Instructions
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Whisk together honey, low-sodium soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a bowl and set aside.
- In another bowl, combine cornstarch and water to form a smooth slurry.
- Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add tilapia fillets to the pan, cooking for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the fillets and add butter, allowing it to melt.
- Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet and let it bubble for 1-2 minutes.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce and allow it to thicken.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, spooning glaze over the fillets.
- Once the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, transfer to a serving platter and garnish before serving.
Notes
For a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer longer before adding the cornstarch slurry. Garnish with parsley or sesame seeds for added flavor and visual appeal.
