Description

A quick and simple recipe for honey garlic glazed tilapia that combines sweetness and umami in a delicious fish dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 (6-ounce) fresh or thawed frozen tilapia fillets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • Optional garnishes: Freshly chopped parsley, toasted sesame seeds, or thinly sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Whisk together honey, low-sodium soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine cornstarch and water to form a smooth slurry.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add tilapia fillets to the pan, cooking for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip the fillets and add butter, allowing it to melt.
  7. Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet and let it bubble for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce and allow it to thicken.
  9. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, spooning glaze over the fillets.
  10. Once the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, transfer to a serving platter and garnish before serving.

Notes

For a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer longer before adding the cornstarch slurry. Garnish with parsley or sesame seeds for added flavor and visual appeal.
