Description

Creating homemade milk caramel transforms simple ingredients into a luscious treat with a rich, gooey texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the sweetened condensed milk, baking soda, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for about 60 to 90 minutes, until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Allow to cool before storing in jars.

Notes

Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan and stir constantly for the best results. If caramel thickens too much, add a tablespoon of milk to loosen.
