Ingredients
- – 10.6 oz (300g) carrots
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) vegetable oil
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) dried garlic
- – salt to taste
- – marjoram to taste
Instructions
- Strip the carrots of their peels and cut them into thin circular slices. Use either a knife or a vegetable slicer to achieve uniformity, aiming for slices approximately 4 mm thick.
- Put the carrot rounds into a mixing bowl and lightly coat them with vegetable oil, ensuring each piece is evenly covered.
- Add dried garlic, marjoram, and a sprinkle of salt to the carrots to infuse them with flavor. Feel free to include other spices if desired, such as pepper or paprika.
- Set the air fryer to a temperature of 195°C (380°F) and select the “Bake” function on your device, like the Instant Vortex Plus XL.
- Spread the carrot slices out in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding to ensure proper air circulation.
- Insert the basket into the air fryer and initiate the “Bake” cycle for 15 minutes. Open the air fryer every 3-4 minutes to shake the basket, promoting even cooking and enhanced crispiness by reducing moisture.
- As the chips cook, they will shrink and the flavors will intensify, so be cautious with the amount of salt and seasoning you use initially.
- Assess the chips for doneness; they should be golden and crisp. If they need more time, continue cooking and check periodically. Once done, switch off the air fryer and gently remove the chips. Allow them to cool slightly before enjoying.
Notes
- Cook the carrot slices in batches in the air fryer to ensure they become crispy without overcrowding.
- Customize the flavor of the carrot chips by trying out different seasonings such as cumin, smoked paprika, or rosemary.
- Opt for a healthier option by using a light mist of cooking spray instead of vegetable oil before seasoning the carrot slices.
