Description

A quick and healthy tuna steak recipe featuring a zesty marinade, perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

  • 60ml water
  • 30ml lemon juice
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 45ml sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 113g fresh tuna steaks

Instructions

  1. Mix water, lemon juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, cardamom, thyme, black pepper, and minced garlic in a bowl to create the marinade.
  2. Place the fresh tuna steaks into a zip-lock bag, pour the marinade over, seal the bag, and mix to coat the tuna evenly.
  3. Marinate the tuna for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove tuna from marinade, letting excess drip off without drying it completely.
  6. Sear the tuna steaks for about 2 minutes on each side, brushing lightly with marinade during cooking.
  7. When internal temperature reaches 52°C, remove from heat and let rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use the freshest tuna available. Consider adding honey or brown sugar to balance the marinade’s acidity.
