Ingredients
- – 4 lbs (1.8 kg) chicken wings, about 30 wings, separated if still attached
- – 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
- – 2 tsp (10 ml) garlic powder
- – 2 tsp (10 ml) paprika
- – 1.5 tsp (7.5 ml) salt
- – ½ tsp (2.5 ml) cayenne
- – ½ cup (120 ml) hot honey
- – ¼ cup (60 ml) vegetable oil, melted
- – ¼ cup (60 ml) hot sauce
Instructions
- Set your oven to 400°F to preheat. Place the chicken wings in a sizable bowl and pat them dry with a paper towel to eliminate any extra moisture. Mix them with the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and cayenne to ensure even coating. Arrange them in a single layer on a large baking sheet, ensuring they have ample space.
- Roast them for 45 minutes, then turn them over and broil for an additional 5-6 minutes to achieve your preferred level of crispiness.
- In the meantime, place the vegetable oil in a saucepan on the stove. Let it melt over a medium flame. Add the hot sauce and hot honey, stirring until they blend smoothly. Allow the mixture to simmer over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it thickens. Set aside to cool and thicken further.
- Once the wings are finished cooking, drain off any excess fat and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the prepared sauce over the wings and toss until they are well-coated, then serve and enjoy.
- For the air fryer method, cook the wings in a greased air fryer basket at 375°F for 20 minutes, turning them midway through the cooking time.
- If using a grill, preheat to medium-high. Cook the wings for 15-20 minutes, turning them regularly, until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, increase the cayenne in the seasoning mix or add hot sauce to the wings before serving.
- Make the sauce tangier by adding fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar for extra acidity.
- Experiment with different hot honey varieties like jalapeño-infused or cinnamon-infused for a unique twist.
