Description

A simple and delicious recipe for grilled octopus featuring a flavorful marinade of olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh octopus (baby, medium, or large)
  • Olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the octopus in a pot and cover with enough water.
  2. Bring to a boil and allow it to cook for 40 minutes.
  3. Remove the octopus from hot water, rinse, and place it in a bowl.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and add the chopped garlic.
  5. Let it cool and rest at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat.
  7. Slice the octopus tentacles and grill for 3-4 minutes per side until charred.
  8. Remove from heat and place back in a bowl.
  9. Drizzle with olive oil, add lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper.
  10. Optionally sprinkle some oregano and parsley on top.
  11. Serve.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider brining the octopus before boiling. Serve with lemon wedges for added brightness.
