Ingredients

  • – 1 lb (450g) carrots
  • – 2 tablespoon (30 ml) cornstarch or tapioca starch
  • – 2 tablespoon (30 ml) olive oil or avocado oil
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper ground


Instructions

  1. Start by peeling the carrots and slicing them into even fry-like pieces. I usually divide each carrot into three sections, then slice each section into 4-6 fry-shaped pieces, depending on thickness.
  2. Place the carrot sticks in a mixing bowl and sprinkle with cornstarch. Toss them around with a spoon until covered. Transfer them to a colander and shake over the sink several times to ensure a light coating of starch on each piece.
  3. Return the carrot fries to the bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with all the seasonings. Stir to ensure they are evenly coated.
  4. Set your basket-style air fryer to 400°F and let it preheat for a few minutes. Cook the carrot fries for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket three times throughout the cooking process.
  5. Enjoy them by themselves or paired with a dipping sauce of your choice.
