Ingredients
- – 4 pounds (1.81 kg) chicken wings (about 16 whole wings, yielding 32 flats and drumettes)
- – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) smoked paprika
- – 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) garlic powder
- – 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) onion powder
- – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried thyme
- – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper
- – 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- – 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot sauce
- – 1/2 cup (120 ml) creamy ranch dressing
- – 3 tablespoons (45 ml) crumbled feta cheese (optional)
Instructions
- If desired, wash the chicken wings under cold running water. Dry them thoroughly using paper towels and place them in a large bowl. Remember to clean your sink and countertops afterward!
- Sprinkle the chicken with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and black pepper. There’s no need to add salt, as the hot sauce is already salty. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or leave them overnight for better flavor.
- Cook the wings in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 22-25 minutes, doing so in batches. Cooking them for 25 minutes will make them crispy, while 22 minutes will leave them juicier with less crispness. I managed to fit 16-18 wings in my air fryer at once. To keep cooked wings warm, place them on a baking sheet in an oven set to 170°F as you finish the remaining batches. Alternatively, you can serve the wings as they finish cooking.
- As the wings are frying, mix together the vegetable oil and hot sauce until they form a smooth, combined sauce.
- For a creamy dipping sauce, blend the ranch dressing with crumbled feta cheese if desired.
- Once the wings are done, move them to a large bowl (a big stainless steel one works well) and pour the sauce over them, mixing with a wooden spoon or tongs. Be cautious of splattering; wearing an apron is a good idea! You can do this in smaller batches if needed to make tossing easier. Serve alongside the ranch and feta dipping sauce.
Notes
- Marinate the chicken wings overnight for enhanced flavor.
- Adjust air fryer cooking time to achieve desired crispiness.
- Exercise caution while tossing wings in sauce to prevent splattering.
