Ingredients
- 1 (8-count) can large flaky biscuits
- Colorful sprinkles (optional )
- 1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp (5 ml). vanilla extract
- Pinch of kosher salt
- Splash of whole milk
- Pink gel food coloring, as needed (optional )
- 1 tbsp (15 ml). maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml). maple extract (optional )
- 1/3 c. heavy cream
- 2/3 c. mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- For the doughnuts: Unseal the biscuit container, and cut out the centers of each biscuit using a small round cutter or a bottle cap.
- If necessary, heat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Cook the doughnuts and their centers in the air fryer until they turn a golden color, about 3 1/2 to 4 minutes, working in batches if needed.
- Place on a rack to cool completely, approximately 20 minutes.
- For the vanilla glaze: Mix the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and just enough milk in a small bowl until smooth and pourable; add food coloring if you like, then set aside.
- For the maple glaze: In another small bowl, combine powdered sugar, maple syrup, maple extract (if using), and a bit of milk to achieve a smooth, pourable texture; set aside.
- For the chocolate glaze: Heat the heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl until it begins to bubble, about 30 to 40 seconds. Add the chocolate chips, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth; set aside.
- To coat the doughnuts, dip them and their centers into the glaze of your choice. Allow excess glaze to drip off back into the bowl, then place them on the rack. Decorate with sprinkles if desired. Enjoy them best when fresh.
Notes
- Note: Be gentle when cutting out the centers to avoid dense doughnuts.
- Adjust glaze thickness by varying milk amounts for easy dipping.
- Enhance chocolate glaze richness with dark chocolate chips instead of mini chips.
