Description
Learn how to make delicious Easy Air-Fryer Cinnamon Apple HandPies with this simple recipe. Perfect for a quick and tasty dessert or snack!
Ingredients
- – 14.1 ounces (400g) refrigerated package pie crust, (2 crusts) or double my homemade pie crust recipe!
- – 1/2 can (300g) apple pie filling, (or double the recipe and use the entire can. Or use my recipe for homemade apple pie filling.)
- – 1 large egg
- – water
- – 3 teaspoons (15 ml) turbinado sugar
- – caramel sauce, optional, for dipping
Instructions
- Take the pie crusts out of their packaging and allow them to reach room temperature as directed on the package.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut the pie crusts into circles measuring 5 inches in diameter.
- Position two apple slices from the filling on the lower half of each pie crust circle. Dampen the outer edges of the crust with a bit of water on your fingertip. Fold the dough over the apple slices to create a half-moon shape, pinching the edges together and using a fork to seal them.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg with a little water to make an egg wash. Apply this mixture over the tops of the pies.
- Scatter 1/2 teaspoon of turbinado sugar atop each pie.
- Cut three small slits into the tops of the pies.
- Set the air fryer to preheat at 350°F for 5 minutes and lightly coat the basket with nonstick spray.
- Place two pies at a time into the basket and cook for around 10 minutes, or until the crust is a golden color and the filling is bubbly. Carefully move them to a wire rack to cool. Repeat this process with the remaining pies. If your air fryer has a larger capacity, you may cook more than two at a time as long as they do not touch.
- Enjoy with caramel sauce as a dip if desired!
Notes
- Consider making your own apple pie filling with fresh apples and spices for a richer taste. Experiment with various cookie cutter shapes for a fun presentation. Sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg over the pies before baking for an extra burst of flavor.
