Ingredients
- 1 4-pound whole chicken, cut into 10 pieces (2 chicken breasts cut in half, 2 chicken wings, 2 chicken legs, 2 chicken thighs)
- 1 teaspoon salt (5 ml)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (5 ml)
- 480 ml plain yogurt
- 240 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon salt (5 ml)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (5 ml)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) paprika
- Spray vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: Sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper, then place it in a bowl with plain yogurt, ensuring the yogurt covers all pieces. Allow it to sit for a minimum of one hour or up to overnight.
- Coat the chicken: Mix together the flour, seasoned salt, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to create the coating mixture. Take the chicken out of the yogurt, shake off any extra, then thoroughly coat each piece in the flour mixture. Place the coated chicken on a clean plate or a wire rack.
- Air-fry the chicken: If cooking a whole chicken, you will need to do this in two rounds. Spray the air fryer basket with vegetable oil spray. Arrange half of the chicken pieces in the basket without them touching each other, as air needs to flow around them. Lightly spray the chicken with oil. Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 14 minutes. Turn the chicken using tongs, spray the underside lightly with oil, and continue cooking for another 10 to 12 minutes, ensuring the white meat reaches 165°F and the dark meat 175°F. If any dry flour spots appear, lightly spray them with oil to help the breading crisp properly.
- Serve: Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy immediately with salad, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, or your preferred sides. Leftover fried chicken can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days and reheated in a 300°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Did you like this recipe? Share your thoughts with a rating and review!
