Learn how to make juicy and flavorful BBQ chicken breasts in your air fryer with this easy recipe. Perfect for a quick and delicious meal!
Ingredients
- – 1 1/2 – 2 lb (680 – 907 g) chicken breast, boneless, skinless
- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) paprika
- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) garlic powder
- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) cracked pepper
- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) sea salt
- – 1/8 – 1/4 tsp (1 ml) cayenne pepper, optional
- – olive oil/oil spray
- – 1/3 c (79 ml) BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Combine the paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and cracked pepper, then put this mixture aside. If necessary, flatten the chicken breasts to ensure uniform thickness. Dry the chicken thoroughly, then either spray or coat them with olive oil. Apply the spice mixture over the oiled chicken, pressing gently to adhere. Flip and repeat on the opposite side.
- Lightly coat the air fryer basket with olive oil and place the chicken with the presentation side facing down. Close the air fryer, set it to 360°F, and cook for 10 minutes. After the initial cooking time, turn the chicken over and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, ensuring the internal temperature reaches about 160°F.
- Generously coat the top of the chicken with BBQ sauce and place it back in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes to warm the sauce. Ensure the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 165°F. Take it out and let it rest for 5 minutes prior to slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, adjust the cayenne pepper amount in the spice mix to suit your taste.
- Marinate the chicken in the spice mix for a minimum of 30 minutes before cooking to enhance the taste.
- Ensure to properly preheat the air fryer before adding the chicken for uniform cooking.
