Description

Delight in the nostalgic flavors of East Coast shrimp rolls, combining fresh shrimp, creamy mayonnaise, and a hint of Old Bay seasoning, all nestled in toasted rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hot dog rolls or brioche rolls
  • Butter for toasting
  • Lettuce leaves (optional)
  • Chopped chives or celery (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling the shrimp. In a pot, heat water and a pinch of salt. Add the shrimp and boil until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
  2. While the shrimp cool, prepare the sauce. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. Once the shrimp have cooled, chop them into bite-sized pieces. Gently fold the shrimp into the mayonnaise mixture, ensuring all pieces are well-coated.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Butter the rolls lightly and toast them until golden brown on both sides.
  5. If you choose to use lettuce, place a leaf in each toasted roll. Then, generously spoon the shrimp mixture on top.
  6. For an added touch, garnish with chopped chives or celery if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Dress the rolls just before serving to maintain their crunch. For faster prep, consider using precooked shrimp.
