Delight in the nostalgic flavors of East Coast shrimp rolls, combining fresh shrimp, creamy mayonnaise, and a hint of Old Bay seasoning, all nestled in toasted rolls.
Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hot dog rolls or brioche rolls
- Butter for toasting
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Chopped chives or celery (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by boiling the shrimp. In a pot, heat water and a pinch of salt. Add the shrimp and boil until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
- While the shrimp cool, prepare the sauce. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Once the shrimp have cooled, chop them into bite-sized pieces. Gently fold the shrimp into the mayonnaise mixture, ensuring all pieces are well-coated.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Butter the rolls lightly and toast them until golden brown on both sides.
- If you choose to use lettuce, place a leaf in each toasted roll. Then, generously spoon the shrimp mixture on top.
- For an added touch, garnish with chopped chives or celery if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
Dress the rolls just before serving to maintain their crunch. For faster prep, consider using precooked shrimp.
