Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons chili paste (adjust for heat)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the shrimp: Clean and pat dry the shrimp.
- Make the diablo sauce: In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, sauté until translucent. Stir in chili paste, smoked paprika, cumin, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another minute.
- Cook the shrimp: Add crushed tomatoes and chicken broth, bringing everything to a simmer. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in lime juice; season with salt and pepper.
- Serve: Garnish with cilantro. Serve with bread or over rice.
