Description

A delightful recipe for crispy deep-fried oysters served with tangy homemade tartar sauce, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 32 oz jar oysters, rinsed and drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 ½-2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 2 dill pickles, chopped
  • 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients for the tartar sauce (mayonnaise, minced onion, chopped dill pickles, hard-boiled egg, lemon juice, chopped parsley) in a bowl. Mix well and let it sit.
  2. Set up a dredging station with flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second dish, and Panko breadcrumbs in a third. Season the flour and Panko with salt and pepper.
  3. Pat the oysters dry, sprinkle with salt and pepper, then dredge in the flour, dip in egg, and coat with Panko, pressing gently.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F. Fry the breaded oysters until deep golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve oysters with the homemade tartar sauce and creamy coleslaw on the side.

Notes

For extra crunch, experiment with various breadcrumbs and adjust seasoning to your preference.
