Description

Deliciously crispy oven-fried fish bites made with cod or halibut, served with a zesty homemade tartar sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of cod or halibut fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of creole seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • Non-stick canola oil spray
  • ½ cup of mayo
  • 2 tablespoons of sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons of sweet relish
  • 2 tablespoons of dill relish
  • ½ teaspoon of creole seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by combining mayo, sour cream, sweet relish, dill relish, creole seasoning, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix until smooth and set aside in the fridge.
  2. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Season the panko breadcrumbs with salt and black pepper. Spread the seasoned flour on one plate and the panko on another.
  4. Dip each fish piece into the seasoned flour, coat it with the milk and egg mixture, and finally roll it in the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Place the breaded fish on the prepared baking sheet and lightly spray with non-stick canola oil spray.
  6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden and cooked through (internal temperature of 145°F or 63°C).
  7. Serve hot with the chilled tartar sauce and lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the fish pieces briefly in the milk and egg mixture before breading.
