Ingredients

  • – 10.6 oz (300 g) carrots
  • – 1 tsp (5 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 1 tsp (5 ml) dried garlic
  • – salt to taste
  • – marjoram to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel the carrots and cut them into thin, round slices, aiming for a thickness of approximately 4 mm; use a knife or a vegetable slicer for uniformity.
  2. Place the carrot slices in a bowl and drizzle with a small amount of vegetable oil, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  3. Add dried garlic, marjoram, and salt to the carrots for seasoning; you may also include other spices like pepper or paprika if desired.
  4. Set the air fryer to 195°C (380°F) and use the “Bake” function; I operated the Instant Vortex Plus XL.
  5. Spread the carrot slices evenly at the bottom of the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren’t overcrowded to promote proper air circulation.
  6. Insert the basket into the air fryer and activate the “Bake” setting for 15 minutes, shaking the basket every 3-4 minutes for even cooking and to eliminate excess moisture.
  7. Observe as the volume of the carrots decreases, leading to a richer flavor, so be cautious with the amount of salt and seasoning used initially.
  8. Inspect the chips to ensure they are golden and crispy; if not, continue cooking and check periodically. Once done, switch off the air fryer, carefully remove the chips, and allow them to cool slightly before enjoying.

Notes

  • Evenly coat carrot slices with oil for even cooking and to prevent sticking in the air fryer.
  • Experiment with seasonings like cumin, thyme, or chili powder to customize the flavor of the carrot chips.
  • Monitor the cooking progress and adjust time as necessary to achieve the desired level of crispiness for the carrot chips. Allow them to cool slightly before serving to crisp up further.
