Learn how to make delicious Crispy Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Breast in just 30 minutes! This easy recipe is perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- – 1/2 cup (120 ml) sugar
- – 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
- – 2 garlic cloves grated
- – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) grated ginger
- – 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) ground black pepper
- – 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
- – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cornstarch
- – Air Fryer
Instructions
- Combine all the components for the teriyaki sauce in a bowl or measuring cup, stirring for 1 to 2 minutes until most of the sugar is dissolved.
- Dry the chicken thighs using paper towels and put them into a medium-sized bowl. Pour about half of the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and mix until they are well-coated. Allow it to marinate for around 30 minutes, or proceed to cook after 5 minutes if pressed for time.
- Meanwhile, place the remaining sauce in a small saucepan, add cornstarch and stir until dissolved. Heat gently until it starts to boil, then cook for 30 to 40 seconds before taking it off the heat. The sauce will thicken further as it cools down.
- Set the air fryer to 400°F and let it warm up for 7 minutes. Once ready, arrange the chicken thighs with the smooth side facing down in the air fryer basket and start cooking.
- When the timer goes off, open the air fryer, apply a layer of teriyaki sauce on the chicken, flip them over using tongs, and coat the other side with sauce.
- Continue cooking for another 6 to 7 minutes at the same temperature. Note: For chicken breasts, cook at 380°F for 6 minutes, turn over, and cook for another 6 minutes, or until fully done.
- Once done, spread more sauce over the top.
Notes
- Marinate chicken in teriyaki sauce overnight for a more intense flavor.
- Pat chicken dry before marinating to help sauce adhere better.
- Spray air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
