Ingredients
- 2 lb (907 g) s Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) onion powder
Instructions
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into ¼ inch thick slices using a mandolin or a sharp knife.
- Put the potato slices in a medium bowl and submerge them in cold water. Let them soak for 15-30 minutes, then drain and pat the slices dry with paper towels to enhance crispiness.
- Return the dried potato slices to the bowl, and drizzle with olive oil. Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika, then toss until evenly coated.
- Arrange half of the potato slices in the base of a 7-quart or larger basket-style air fryer.
- Cook them in the air fryer at 380°F for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes. After 12 minutes, start checking if they are golden brown and crispy outside while tender inside.
- Transfer the cooked potato slices to a serving plate or baking sheet. Enjoy them immediately or keep them warm. Repeat the process with the remaining potato slices.
- Serve right away with dill aioli or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Soaking potato slices in cold water removes excess starch for crispier fries.
- Pat dry thoroughly before seasoning to prevent sogginess.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking and crispy results.
