Description
Learn how to make delicious Crispy Air Fryer Garlic Buttered Cod with this easy recipe. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection every time!
Ingredients
- 2 cod fillets (about 2.27 kg) about 2.54 cm thick. Thawed, if using frozen
- 15 ml Vegetable oil
- 5 ml Salt to taste
- 5 ml Pepper to taste
- 15 ml Seasoning I used Old Bay seasoning. You can also try it with lemon pepper seasoning, or cajun spice.
Instructions
- Coat the cod fillets thoroughly with vegetable oil on both sides, then sprinkle them with salt and pepper to your liking, as well as your choice of seasoning. I opted for Old Bay, but lemon pepper or Cajun spice are great alternatives.
- Allow the cod to rest for 5 minutes to soak in the flavors. Meanwhile, set the air fryer to 400°F and let it heat up. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with oil or a non-stick spray.
- Arrange the seasoned cod fillets in the preheated air fryer basket. Cook for 8-10 minutes depending on their thickness, flipping halfway through, until they achieve a crispy, golden finish. Ensure the fish reaches an internal temperature of 145°F using a thermometer for accuracy.
- As the cod cooks, prepare a dipping sauce. Combine ½ cup of mayonnaise with 2 teaspoons of finely minced pickles, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon of Dijon or regular mustard, and a dash of salt for a tartar sauce. Alternatively, blend avocado, lime juice, garlic, and salt until smooth for a creamy avocado cilantro dip.
Notes
- Lighten the dish by using olive oil instead of vegetable oil for coating the cod fillets before air frying.
- Enhance the flavor by experimenting with seasonings like garlic powder, smoked paprika, or Italian herbs.
- Ensure a crispy exterior by patting the cod fillets dry with paper towels before seasoning and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking.
