A creamy and cheesy crab and shrimp casserole that brings warmth and comfort to any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 lb crabmeat (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup celery (diced)
- 1/2 cup onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 pinch salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Combine shrimp, crabmeat, celery, onion, and garlic in a large bowl until fully mixed.
- Melt the butter over medium heat in a saucepan, then add the flour, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Whisk in the milk gradually, stirring for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and seasoning into the sauce.
- Pour the creamy sauce over the seafood mixture and combine until coated.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until the topping is bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly and garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
For a twist, add bell peppers or spinach. Enhance the breadcrumb topping with spices or grated parmesan.
