Description

A creamy and cheesy crab and shrimp casserole that brings warmth and comfort to any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 lb crabmeat (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup celery (diced)
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Combine shrimp, crabmeat, celery, onion, and garlic in a large bowl until fully mixed.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a saucepan, then add the flour, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Whisk in the milk gradually, stirring for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Stir in mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and seasoning into the sauce.
  5. Pour the creamy sauce over the seafood mixture and combine until coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the topping is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a twist, add bell peppers or spinach. Enhance the breadcrumb topping with spices or grated parmesan.
