Description

A lighter take on the classic Italian dish, featuring crispy cod fillets paired with a tangy lemon-caper sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup capers
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the cod fillets with salt and pepper, then dust them lightly with flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the cod fillets and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the cod from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add lemon juice, capers, and chicken broth, scraping the bottom to deglaze.
  6. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Return the cod to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring it’s coated in the sauce.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy with vegetables or over herbed pasta.

Notes

Use a fish spatula for flipping the cod to avoid breaking the fillets. Let the cod rest before serving for better tenderness.
