Description
A comforting dish featuring mixed seafood, a creamy sauce, and a crispy breadcrumb topping, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 400 g mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, white fish fillets)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 200 ml heavy cream (or coconut milk for a dairy-free option)
- 100 ml milk
- 50 g butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 100 g grated cheese (Gruyère or cheddar)
- 50 g breadcrumbs (mix with melted butter for extra crunch)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
- Incorporate the mixed seafood into the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Sauté until just cooked through, then remove from heat.
- In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid browning.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream and milk, whisking continuously. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the grated cheese until fully melted and combined.
- Combine the seafood mixture and the sauce in a large bowl, mixing well.
- Pour the mixture into a baking dish. Prepare the breadcrumb topping by mixing breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle generously over the seafood mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Opt for fresh seafood for the best flavor. You can substitute heavy cream with coconut milk for a dairy-free option.
