Description

Learn how to make delicious Cheesy Air Fryer Witch Hat Calzones with this easy recipe! Perfect for Halloween parties or a fun snack.

Ingredients

  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) beef pepperoni, sliced small (an additional 10 slices to decorate the hats)
  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • – 1/4 cup (60 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • – 4 ounces (113 g) beef cream cheese, softened
  • – 2 packages crescent rolls (227 g each package)
  • – 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water
  • – 3/4 teaspoon (4 ml) kosher salt
  • – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) Italian Seasoning
  • – marinara sauce, served warm
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) Sauteed Peppers & Onions
  • – 1/2 cup (120 g) cooked beef Italian Sausage

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 425°F and line a baking tray with either parchment paper or a silicone liner. Prepare the sausage, peppers, and onions, and set aside.
  2. Chop the pepperoni into small bits and reserve some extra slices to shape into decorative pieces like diamonds or crescent moons. Set aside both portions.
  3. In a separate small dish, stir together the salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
  4. In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, peppers, onions, sausage, and the chopped pepperoni. Add a good sprinkle of the seasoning blend and mix until everything is well combined.
  5. Roll out the crescent dough into individual triangles. Lay four triangles on the prepared tray, keeping the other four aside for later. If using two trays, place four triangles on each. If working with one, handle one package at a time to prevent the dough from tearing.
  6. Lightly whisk the egg with water in another small bowl. Brush this egg wash along the edges of the triangles on the tray.
  7. Scoop 1½ to 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture onto the center of each triangle.
  8. Cover each filled triangle with one of the reserved triangles, placing it on top.
  9. Seal the edges of each crescent roll to keep the filling secure during baking.
  10. Shape the bottom of each crescent into a brim and adjust the top to resemble a witch’s hat.
  11. Lightly coat the hats with more egg wash.
  12. Adorn the brims with the fun-shaped pepperoni pieces you set aside earlier.
  13. Dust the hats with the remaining seasoning mix.
  14. Position the tray in the center of the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until they turn golden brown. Optionally, sprinkle more Parmesan on top.
  15. Accompany the hats with warmed marinara sauce for dipping. Warm the sauce in the microwave by heating it in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals until it reaches your desired temperature.

Notes

  • Enhance the cheese filling by incorporating a hint of garlic or onion powder.
  • Use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to create fun shapes with the pepperoni slices.
  • Ensure the edges of the crescent rolls are tightly sealed to prevent filling leakage when baking.
