Description

A quick and satisfying meal combining the delightful texture of pasta and the savory flavor of canned tuna.

Ingredients

  • 350 g dried pasta (any type or shape)
  • 3 cans of chunk tuna in oil (drained, typically 3×145 g or 5.1 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ⅓ cup onion (chopped)
  • 2 large garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 100 g cream cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup reserved pasta water
  • ½ teaspoon salt (to taste, plus more for cooking pasta)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente, around 8 to 10 minutes. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  2. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions for about 2 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Lower the heat, add red pepper flakes, and stir to combine.
  4. Mix in the drained pasta, cream cheese, and a bit of reserved pasta water. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Fold in the drained tuna and season generously with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

To enhance flavor, consider adding fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice. Skip cream cheese for a lighter option.
