Ingredients
- olive oil cooking spray
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) gluten-free baking flour (such as Premium Gold® Flax and Ancient Grains All-Purpose Flour)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder, or to taste
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 heads cauliflower, cut into bite-size pieces
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) butter
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot®)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) honey
Instructions
- Set your oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) and lightly coat a baking tray with the olive oil spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the water, gluten-free flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper by whisking until you achieve a smooth, slightly runny consistency.
- Immerse the cauliflower florets in the batter, ensuring they are fully covered, and lay them out evenly on the prepared tray.
- Place the tray into the preheated oven and bake until the cauliflower turns a light golden color, approximately 20 to 25 minutes, then remove it from the oven and set aside.
- On the stovetop, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then take it off the heat and mix in the hot sauce and honey until the mixture is smooth.
- Using a brush, coat each piece of cauliflower with the prepared sauce, ensuring all the sauce is used up in the process.
- Put the tray back into the oven and continue baking until the cauliflower is nicely browned, for around 10 more minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 to 15 minutes prior to serving.
Notes
- – For added crunch, consider turning the cauliflower florets over halfway through the baking process.
- – Adjust the quantity of hot sauce to match your desired level of spiciness.
- – Ensure the use of a gluten-free flour blend for a gluten-free version of this dish.
