Description
Enjoy restaurant-worthy blackened salmon in under 15 minutes. This recipe features a flavorful blend of spices that elevate the salmon, resulting in a crispy exterior and moist interior.
Ingredients
- 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
- 2 tablespoons blackened seasoning blend
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Lemon wedges for serving (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels to achieve a crispy crust.
- Generously coat both sides of each salmon fillet with blackened seasoning, pressing gently to ensure it adheres well.
- Heat olive oil or avocado oil in a large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add butter to the pan; once melted, swirl to coat the bottom of the pan.
- Carefully place salmon fillets, skin-side down if applicable, in the hot skillet. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Sear for 3-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the salmon is cooked through and a dark, crispy crust forms.
- For skin-on salmon, cook mostly skin-side down until crispy, then flip for a minute or two to finish.
- Remove the salmon from the skillet and let it rest for a minute or two before serving.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of fresh parsley, if desired.
Notes
For a deeper smoky flavor, consider adding cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to your seasoning blend.
