A delicious blackened salmon recipe featuring a perfect crust and served with a refreshing dill sauce.
Ingredients
- 4-6 6oz salmon fillets, skin-on
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon chipotle pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (divided)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (regular or dairy-free)
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 3 tablespoons fresh dill (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the dill sauce by mixing sour cream, mayo, chopped dill, minced garlic, lemon juice, kosher salt, and ground black pepper in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- Mix together the spices (paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, chipotle pepper, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper) to create the seasoning. Season the fillets generously and rub 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil over the top.
- Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sear the salmon skin-side up for 1-3 minutes until charred.
- Flip the salmon and place the skillet in the oven, baking for 10-14 minutes until fully cooked.
- Let the salmon rest briefly before serving with the dill sauce.
