Description

Blackened Ahi Tuna is a flavorful dish featuring seared tuna steaks seasoned with a smoky spice blend, perfect for a quick yet impressive meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz Ahi Tuna Steaks (2 filets)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (or Olive Oil)
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Chili Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Oregano
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper (if using), oregano, and garlic salt to create the blackened seasoning.
  2. Pat the Ahi Tuna Steaks dry with paper towels.
  3. Generously coat each side of the tuna steaks with the blackened seasoning.
  4. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat until it’s smoking hot.
  5. Add the unsalted butter to the pan and let it melt.
  6. Carefully place the seasoned Ahi Tuna Steaks in the hot pan and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove the tuna from the pan immediately once seared, ensuring it does not overcook.
  8. Let the tuna rest for a minute or two before slicing and serving with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

For optimal results, ensure your pan is at the correct temperature and allow the tuna to rest after cooking.
