Description

Bang Bang Shrimp is a flavorful and crispy dish featuring shrimp coated in a crunchy batter and tossed in a zesty sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp Sriracha (optional)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha (if using), and lime juice for the Bang Bang sauce.
  6. Toss the cooked shrimp in the sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Serve with a garnish of green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate shrimp in lime juice for 15-30 minutes before coating. Consider double-dipping the shrimp for a thicker crust.
