Bang Bang Shrimp is a flavorful and crispy dish featuring shrimp coated in a crunchy batter and tossed in a zesty sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1-2 tbsp Sriracha (optional)
- Juice of 1 lime
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
- Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha (if using), and lime juice for the Bang Bang sauce.
- Toss the cooked shrimp in the sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve with a garnish of green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate shrimp in lime juice for 15-30 minutes before coating. Consider double-dipping the shrimp for a thicker crust.
