Description
Delightful baked sea scallops seasoned with garlic and shallots, topped with a crispy breadcrumb layer.
Ingredients
- 16 sea scallops, rinsed and drained
- 5 tablespoons melted butter
- 5 cloves minced garlic
- 2 chopped shallots
- 3 pinches ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ cup chopped parsley
- Lemon wedges for garnish
Instructions
- Place the rinsed and drained scallops in a bowl along with the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped shallots.
- Season the mixture with ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to combine all the flavors, taking care not to break the delicate scallops.
- Transfer the scallop mixture to a casserole dish, spreading it evenly to ensure every bite showcases the ensemble of flavors.
- Combine breadcrumbs with olive oil in a separate bowl until well mixed. This mixture is crucial for creating that delightful crispy texture on top.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly on top of the scallops, allowing the crumbs to form a protective layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 11 to 14 minutes, until the crumbs turn golden and the scallops are cooked through.
- Top the dish with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
Ensure even heat distribution by rotating the casserole dish halfway through baking.
