Description

Comforting shrimp and grits made effortlessly in a slow cooker, blending creamy grits with succulent shrimp and rich flavors.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, for garnish


Instructions

  1. In the slow cooker, combine chicken broth and grits. Stir well.
  2. Add the chopped bacon, onion, garlic, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the grits are creamy.
  4. In the last 30 minutes of cooking, stir in the heavy cream and cheddar cheese.
  5. In a skillet, sauté the shrimp until cooked through, then add to the grits.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with green onions.

Notes

Rinse grits before cooking for a smoother texture. Adjust Cajun seasoning to taste and consider different cheese varieties for added flavor.
