Ingredients
- 454 g sweet potato – cut into 1-inch cubes (about 1 medium sweet potato)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) salt – or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon (12 g) light brown sugar – packed
- 1-2 tablespoons (15 ml) maple syrup – optional; you may also use honey
- 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) cracked black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) ground cumin
Instructions
- Place the sweet potato cubes, olive oil, and salt into a mixing bowl.
- For a sweet flavor, sprinkle the cinnamon over the potatoes and mix until they are evenly coated.
- For a savory twist, add smoked paprika, cracked black pepper, white pepper, garlic powder, and cumin to the bowl and stir until everything is well combined.
- Arrange the sweet potato pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if needed, and cook at 400°F for 14-16 minutes, ensuring they are tender on the inside and crispy on the edges. Give the basket a shake halfway through cooking.
- If you chose the sweet version, take them out of the air fryer and mix with the light brown sugar. Optionally, drizzle with maple syrup before serving immediately.
Notes
- Enhance the flavor by adding a touch of chili powder or cayenne to the seasoning mix.
- Cut sweet potato cubes into uniform sizes for consistent cooking.
- Customize the taste by experimenting with spices like nutmeg or allspice.
