Ingredients
- 2 cups (480 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) golden brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons (22.5 ml) baking powder
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground nutmeg
- 6 tablespoons (90 ml) cold, unsalted butter, cut into tiny pieces
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) low-fat milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) pumpkin puree
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) low-fat milk
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon (0.6 ml) ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon (0.6 ml) ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Line the two mesh trays of the GoWISE Air Fryer Oven with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, cloves, and nutmeg. Use a whisk to mix these thoroughly.
- Add the cold butter pieces and work them into the dry mixture with your fingers until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy, which should take around a minute.
- Create a hollow in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the wet mixture. Stir gently with a large spoon until just combined, being careful not to overmix, which could make the donuts tough.
- Scoop approximately 2 tablespoons of dough using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop, roll it into a ball with your hands, and place it on one of the parchment-lined trays. Repeat this process until all the dough is used, ensuring you have about 20 balls, 10 per tray, with some space between them.
- Insert the trays into the GoWISE Air Fryer Oven on two of the three rack levels, ensuring there is enough space for the lower tray.
- Select the “Bake” function on the air fryer, set it to 350°F, and cook for 10 minutes. Turn the air fryer on and let it bake until the donuts are golden on top.
- Carefully take out the trays and transfer the donuts to a cooling rack, allowing them to cool for at least 10 minutes.
- While the donuts are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, spices, and vanilla in a small bowl until smooth.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment and place a cooling rack on it. Once the donuts have cooled, dip each one into the glaze, ensuring they’re fully coated, and let the excess glaze drip back into the bowl before placing them on the rack.
- Let the glaze harden, which should take about 20 minutes, and then the donuts are ready to enjoy.
Notes
- Use unsalted butter for a more intense flavor in the dough.
- Enhance pumpkin taste by adding a dash of pumpkin pie spice to the dry mixture.
- Allow donuts to cool completely before dipping in glaze to prevent quick melting.
