Description

Learn how to make delicious Air Fryer Salmon with a crispy Parmesan crust that’s easy and flavorful. Perfect for a quick and healthy dinner option!

Ingredients

  • – 1 lb (454 g) salmon
  • – 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) black pepper
  • – 1/4 cup (60 g) plain breadcrumbs
  • – 1/4 cup (25 g) shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or gouda)
  • – 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Italian seasoning
  • – 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 2 tsp (10 ml) minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Begin by setting your oven to 400 degrees F and allowing it to preheat. Cover a baking sheet with parchment or aluminum foil and lightly coat with cooking spray to avoid sticking. If using an air fryer, apply cooking spray to the basket.
  2. Position the salmon on the prepared baking sheet with the skin facing downward. Use a paper towel to gently dry the surface.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the plain breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, and Italian seasoning. In a separate bowl, combine the vegetable oil and minced garlic, then add this to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Sprinkle black pepper over the salmon for seasoning (additional salt is unnecessary as the cheese provides enough). Evenly distribute the breadcrumb mixture over each salmon piece, pressing it lightly onto the fish.
  5. For oven cooking: Place the salmon in the oven and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, or until its internal temperature is at least 145 degrees F. For air fryer cooking: Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 4 minutes. Put the salmon with the crust, skin side down, into the basket and cook. Ensure the fish is fully cooked by checking its internal temperature. If preparing vegetables in the air fryer as well, add the salmon in the last 10 minutes so everything is ready simultaneously.
  6. Serve the salmon immediately, accompanied by vegetable side dishes.

Notes

  • Pat the salmon dry before adding the breadcrumb mixture to ensure a crispy crust.
  • Experiment with different shredded cheeses like Parmesan or mozzarella for extra flavor.
  • Enhance Italian flavors by sprinkling dried basil or oregano on top before baking.
